Helping Hands
The Board of Social Concerns is launching a new service to the membership of First English. The goal of the program is to literally lend a Helping Hand to members who are in need of various types of aid in their current life situation. Examples include light carpentry; simple plumbing; light housekeeping; yard work such as mowing a lawn or trimming small hedges; providing short term respite care to those providing in–home care to family members; grocery shopping; assisting with transportation; and similar needs.
A full list of services to be provided is still in the making and will depend on the requests we receive. Initially as the program is developed services will be limited to FELC membership. At a later date it will be offered to the community.
If you know of someone who could use a Helping Hand, please contact the church office at 361-575-3623. Your request will be forwarded to the Board of Social Concerns for action. If you are uncertain about requesting services for someone, please contact Pastor Jim for assistance. Services are free of charge. Please give us a chance to do what our Lord and Savior asked of all who follow Him - to love, serve and help one another.
